TOPEKA (KSNT) – Do you feel like you really know what’s going on day in and day out with the state government?

A group of Democrats believe the state isn’t doing enough to keep Kansans informed, which is why they’re pushing a number of policy aimed at creating more transparency and good government this session.

“This is the very foundation of our democracy, is the trust we build with Kansans,” said Rep. Tom Burroughs, a Democrat from Kansas City.

“Our obligation is to the people of Kansas. Folks all across the state go to work every day, and do what is expected of them. We as a legislative body need to do the same,” said Sen. Tom Holland, a Democrat from Lawrence.

They’re supporting a handful of bills in order to make that happen.
