State Rep. Emily Perry, whose 24th district includes all of Merriam and portions of Mission and northern Overland Park, filed for reelection on Monday.
Perry, a Democrat, is seeking her second term in office. She sits on the Transportation Committee, and the Judiciary and Federal and State Affairs Committee. Perry signaled a commitment to public education funding in a statement that accompanied her announcement.
“It has been an honor to serve my district, and work to craft policy that benefits our citizens,” she said. “I had the benefit of excellent public schools from Kindergarten through Law School and I will work to protect those institutions, as they are Kansas’ greatest asset.”
Perry, who lives in Overland Park, is an attorney. She made the announcement in conjunction with fellow Democrat and 22nd district Rep. Nancy Lusk.
