Rep. Ed Trimmer has served in the Kansas House of Representatives since 2005.  He represents the 79th House District, which includes portions of Sumner and Cowley Counties. 

Ed and his wife, Krystal, reside in Winfield and have two daughters: Jessica and Kyle.  Both Ed and Krystal have worked in public education for over 33 years.  Ed was a successful debate coach and speech teacher at Winfield High School, where he was named Outstanding Speech Educator by the Kansas Speech Communication Association and chaired the KSCA Liaison Committee to the Kansas High School Activities Association for six years.  He was named the Jaycee's "Outstanding Young Educator" as well as "Winfield NEA Master Teacher". He has also been inducted into the Kansas Debate Coaches Hall of Fame and this year was inducted into the distinguished Kansas Teachers' Hall of Fame. 

Within the local community, Ed was president of the Winfield Swim Club for six years and president of the Great Plains Swim League for three. He was a member of the municipal pool task force and was active in the bond election to build the Winfield Aquatic Center. He has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church for over thirty years, and is a past active elder and past Christian Education Committee chair. He was also a member of the Sunrise Lions Club.  Ed is also a longtime member of the Winfield Municipal Band. He has also been responsible for the live broadcast of a number of events over channel 21, the public educational access cable channel, including the Fourth of July celebration at Sooner Stadium.
