Bill Feuerborn, District 5

Biography

Representative Bill Feuerborn has served the 5th House District since 1995.  He represents parts southeast Franklin, southwest Miami, and northeast Anderson Counties.

Throughout his 15 years in the Kansas House, Bill has been actively involved with the development of the Kansas budget.  He serves as the ranking minority member of the House Appropriations Committee and played an important role in drafting legislation to assist communities affected by flooding in 2007.  The legislation, approved this session, provides sales tax exemptions for material purchased for the repair or reconstruction of businesses damaged by flooding.  Incentives for affordable housing development in impacted communities were also included.

In addition to his role on the House Appropriations Committee, Bill also serves on the House Education Budget Committee, the Joint Committee on State Building Construction and the Joint Committee on Health Policy Oversight.

Bill attended Garnett High School, Independence Jr. College and Pittsburg State University.  Within the community, Bill served on the U.S.D. 365 School Board for four years and served as president in 1993.  He has also been involved in the Kansas Livestock Association, the Farm Bureau, and Garnett Optimists.  He worked in the business sector for over 35 years and owned his own company. 

Bill and his wife, Lynda, have been married for 33 years and reside in rural Anderson County.  The Feuerborns have three children and five grandchildren.
