Julie Menghini, District 3
Julie Menghini was first elected to the Kansas House in 2004. She represents the 3rd House District, which includes the city of Pittsburg.
A lifelong Kansan, Julie was born and raised in Pittsburg and attended Pittsburg Public Schools. She attended Pittsburg State University and the University of Kansas. Julie and her husband Henry have been married for over 20 years and have three children.
Julie has been a longtime community activist, including a 14-year board member of Elm Acres Youth and Family Services and a 14-year member of the PTO. Julie is a member of the Business Education Alliance committee for the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce.
During her time in the Kansas House, Julie served as the ranking minority member of the House Taxation Committee, fighting for common sense solutions to get Kansas on the road to economic recovery. In addition, she actively worked on the House Transportation committee to develop Kansas’ comprehensive transportation plan. This program will create 175,000 new jobs over the next decade and was the largest jobs package to ever be signed into law in Kansas. In December 2012, she was elected House Minority Whip.
