Margaret Long, District 36

Biography

Rep Margaret Long has served in the Kansas Legislature for over 10 years. Throughout her tenure, Long has strongly supported efforts to improve the quality of life in Wyandotte County.  As the ranking Democrat of the House Transportation Committee, Long has actively participated in efforts to develop Kansas' next long range transportation plan.  The last plan, approved in 1999, provided over $13.6 billion in infrastructure improvements and provided over 114,000 jobs in Kansas.  Long is working with the Department of Transportation to ensure the next comprehensive transportation plan is successfully implemented.   

Long also works as a member of the Energy and Utilities committee on behalf of Kansas consumers, fighting for affordable rates, utilities accountability and clean energy.  In addition to the House Transportation Committee and the House Energy and Utilities Committee, Long also serves  on the Joint Committee on Pensions, Investments and Benefits and the Select Committee on KPERS.

The 66th House District covers portions of North Central Wyandotte County and Edwardsville.
