Vince Wetta, District 80

Biography

Rep. Vince Wetta has served in the Kansas House of Representatives since 2007.  He represents the 80th House District, which includes most of Sumner and southern Harper Counties.

Vince spent 41 years working in the railroad industry.  He worked as an engineer, conductor, student instructor, and computer trainer, and maintained several other responsibilities within the operations department.

Vince and his wife, Marilyn, raised three sons and have 10 grandchildren.  They reside in Wellington, where Vince has been extremely active in the local community.  Vince has been involved in Knights of Columbus, the Rotary, Elks Club, and the Parish Council.  Vince also volunteered as a Little League coach and is a member of the Quarterback Club.       

Vince is the Ranking Democratic Member on the House Transportation Committee.  He also serves on the House Committees on the Transportation and Public Safety Budget, and Agriculture and Natural Resources.  He was instrumental in the passage of the Kansas Expanded Lottery Act (KELA), which included a provision to allow state owned gaming facilities in Kansas.
