TOPEKA - House Minority Leader Paul Davis, Lawrence, announced today that Rep. Annie Tietze, Topeka, has been appointed to serve on the State Employee Pay Plan Oversight Committee.

“Rep. Tietze has been a strong advocate for the state employee pay plan through her work on the House Commerce and Labor Community,” said Davis. “She represents thousands of state employees in her district and is a great fit for this committee.”

The State Employee Pay Plan Oversight Committee was originally created to oversee the development and implementation of a state employee pay plan that was approved in 2008. Previously, Kansas classified state employees worked under a system based on longevity and position. The new plan will gradually transition into a “compensation philosophy.” Similar to the private sector, this philosophy offers competitive compensation based on relevant labor markets and employee performance. Overall, the change is expected to raise expectations for both managers and employees, attracting and retaining better workers.

Tietze has been a member of the Kansas House of Representatives since 2007.  She represents the 57th House District, which includes portions of Topeka.
