Kansas House Minority Leader Paul Davis announced today the appointment of Wendy Parent, Oskaloosa, to the Kansas Employment First Oversight Commission.
“It is an honor to appoint such a highly qualified and respected individual,” said Davis. “Ms. Parent’s expertise and skilled knowledge of the topics associated with the Kansas Employment First Commission will make her a valued addition.”
Ms. Parent has worked extensively with disability research and rights organizations over the last 15 years and is currently a Research Associate Professor/Associate Director at the Kansas University Center on Developmental Disabilities. She received her Ph.D from the Virginia Commonwealth University with a major in Urban Services Leadership and an Emphasis on Adult/Secondary Education Services for Persons with Developmental Disabilities.
HB 2336 created the Kansas Employment First Initiative Act and created the Kansas Employment First Oversight Commission.The Commission oversees state programs and services which support employment of persons with disabilities, that are required to consider, as their first option, competitive and integrated employment for persons with disabilities.
