“The extreme Right Wing’s assault on Kansas public schools took a huge step forward today. By failing to maintain federal guidelines for special education funding, local school districts will lose nearly $100 million over the next five years. Class sizes will explode, teachers and paraprofessionals will be laid off, valuable education programs will go by the wayside and ultimately many Kansas kids will be left behind. Our children will suffer so that big businesses can be exempt from paying taxes.”

“Additionally, the extreme Right Wing has sent a clear message to leading researchers at our universities that their work is not valued. We will not achieve National Cancer Institute designation at the University of Kansas Medical Center, bring the National Bio and Agri-Defense Facility to Manhattan and make the National Institute for Aviation Research at Wichita State University a national leader in orthopedic product development by slashing the salaries of our leading researchers who bring in millions of dollars of grants to our state.”

-Paul Davis, Kansas House Democratic Leader
