TOPEKA, KS -- Kansas House Minority Leader Paul Davis, D-Lawrence, announced today his appointment of Rep. Gail Finney to the Kansas Interagency Coordinating Council on Early Childhood Developmental Services (Kansas ICC).

“It is an honor to appoint such highly qualified and respected individual,”said Davis. “Rep. Finney is a vital member of the Legislature and will use her experience to serve the Coordinating Cuuncil well. I know that she will do what is in the best interest of all Kansans who rely and depend on the Kansas ICC.”

The Council on Early Childhood Developmental Services advises and assists state government in matters pertaining to preschool children at risk of developmental delays/disabilities. The Council serves in this advisory role to the two lead agencies responsible for administering Part C of IDEA (KDHE) and Part B of IDEA (KSDE).  It is comprised of cabinet secretaries, legislators, and Governor's appointees.

In Wichita, Finney has been an active part of her neighborhood and community. She is a member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church and she has served on numerous boards, including the Wichita Chamber of Commerce's Visioneering Racial, Diversity, Opportunities, and Harmony Board, the District 1 Advisory Board, Precinct Committee Woman, and the Governor's Kansas African American Advisory Commission.

Finney is the ranking Democratic member on the House Vision 2020 Committee.  She also serves on the House Committees on Energy and Utilities, and Commerce and Economic Development. Finney has represented the 84th House District, which includes portions of Wichita, since 2009.
